Louis Pasteur once said, “chance favors the prepared mind.”
- Penicillin - Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin by accident in 1928. Fleming had left a sandwich out and went on holiday for a month ….. and on his return noticed something in the petrie dishes of bacteria ….. but it took another 17 years until Penicillin was widely available
- The Post-It Note™ - invented from a failed attempt at developing a super strong glue 5 years earlier …. and the yellow color was chosen by accident as some scrap yellow paper was to hand
Now I am not saying all great discovery comes from untidiness, or failure …. but that we should have our eyes open
So if something doesn’t work, or is unexpected …. perhaps ….. just perhaps ….
